Our Beginning is a safe, welcoming, and joyful school environment
that celebrates children and childhood each and every day. Laughter and questions
fill the classrooms and hallways of the school. We educate children six-weeks through
six years of age in our eco-friendly environment. Building character starts young,
teachers lead and model kindness, joy for children, compassion, generosity, grace and
forgiveness. As a fully licensed, full-day, with optional dual language educational
programs, (English, Spanish and Mandarin classrooms), we provide engaging social,
physical, creative, and cognitive learning opportunities for each child. Rooted in
the Reggio Emilia philosophy, Our Beginning believes that young children are highly
capable of learning and making complex connections. Creativity and exploring the
outdoors are at the center of our interconnected program and each child is recognized
as an individual learner and personality, ready with questions to ponder and
interests to pursue.
Nurturing both the mind and palate of children are hallmarks for Our Beginning. With
a certified organic kitchen centrally located in our school, we integrate healthy
lifestyle learning into our daily endeavors. Our culinary team provide four whole
food, plant-based, organic meals to our students each day as well as healthy
scratch-made purees for our infants. As part of our learning program, students
experience the food process-how food is grown and harvested as well as learning about
the origins of recipe ingredients. Students also expand their palates each day by
exploring organically made food from different cultures.
Families are an integral part of our school community as well, together we share
experiences, observations, traditions and goals that serve to deepen our learning and
connections. We work in partnership with our families to be the best possible team
for each child.
With creativity at the center of our program, our teachers work collaboratively with
our Atelierista (art teacher) to integrate social development opportunities, motor
skills, cognitive thinking and pre-academic projects into each magical exploration
they plan for our students. Teachers note the children’s areas of interest and
questions, then work as team to provide engaging provocations that build on that
curiosity and promote questions.
